NOBODY could be stauncher in their support for our front- line NHS heroes than Tom Billinge.

The student and food bank volunteer spends every spare moment on social media sharing articles from The Guardian critical of the Tory government’s handling of the coronaviru­s crisis.

And although the Manchester Labour activist has not actually got around to working yet and paying taxes to fund the health service, he’s never slow to share his thoughts about how other people’s money should be spent.

So, with his virtue firmly signalled, what happened on Tuesday morning was all the more ironic.

Tom, 29, said: “I was all set to run into the street and furiously stand silent in memory of those murdered by the evil Tories and their policy of ‘ take it on the chin’ eugenics that is designed to wipe out workers, as well as members of the BAME and LGBT communitie­s.

“But before I left my house just before 11am, I spotted someone had said something rude about Jeremy Corbyn on Twitter. After I responded, I was very worked up and a little bit confused.

“And I got a bit mixed up.” Tom confused the Tuesday morning silence with the Thursday evening applause – so ran outside and began applauding wildly while screaming “Tories Out!”

He said: “It was a few seconds before I realised that I should have been standing silently. I shut up but it was too late.
