In a new interview, the 74- year- old British actress said she doesn’t even know what it means to be regarded as one.

She said: “I don’t agree that I’m a sex symbol – the great thing about getting older is that you get over all that. You tend to think, ‘ Sex symbol? What the f** k does that mean?’

“There are so many other interesting things to be driven by.”

However, Dame Helen – who won a Best Actress Oscar in 2006 for her performance in

– was quick to add that she wasn’t knocking back the compliment.

She said: “It’s great and I’m not knocking it – it’s a fabulous part of life

– but it’s only a part, it’s not everything.”

She said at the time: “It’s as if we can only operate through our sexual allure. I think that’s such rubbish and so untrue about women.”

The 25- year- old – real name Ashley Nicolette Frangipane – has revealed she is working towards taking an exam to qualify as an lawyer after a fan spotted she had a book on constitutional law on display in one of her recent Instagram snaps.

In the caption, she had hinted: “Law is fun but hard.”

Giving fans an update on her day, Halsey – who recently fractured her ankle as she loaded her dishwasher – wrote in the full post: “I took my brace off my ankle cause it was itchy and now I need to put it back. I made a quiche and fresh spinach butternut squash ravioli. Law is fun but hard. Beautiful sky.”

When one follower asked about the book, the Nightmare singer replied: “I’m studying to take the bar exam!”

New Jersey- born Halsey – who dropped out of college at 19 – follows in the footsteps of Kim Kardashian West, who’s also been studying to take her “baby bar” exam and has been making waves in prison reform.
