So why won’t these lefties protest against modern-day slavery?

-

THEY must be feeling very proud of themselves, those “Social Justice Warriors”.

Every self- important “Black Lives Matter” tweet they share.

Every puffed- up selfie they take at a demonstration against a long- dead empire- builder in Oxford.

Every preposterous snap they post to Instagram showing themselves “taking the knee”.

Every furious tweet they send in the latest “pile- on” against an individual or company who has not sufficiently humbled itself before the altar of “diversity”.

These virtue- signalling keyboard warriors, so keen to criticise the actions of white men who have been in their graves for centuries.

They look so happy when statues of men they had never heard of until two weeks ago are flung into the sea.

These fools must bask in their own saintliness.

Well, these morons should read a little more.

Because the smart phones, laptops and tablets they use for their electronic campaigning are – almost certainly – drenched in blood.

The rare metals that make these devices work were hacked from toxic ground by African people – many children – working under conditions that we could describe using one word:

Slavery.

Slavery that’s happening right now – as I write this, and as you read it, too.

Cobalt is a metal found in every lithium- ion rechargeable battery on the planet – from smartphones to tablets to laptops to electric vehicles.

You cannot send an email, check your Twitter ‘ likes’, share a photo of the Black Lives Matter in the front window of your comfortable suburban house, without using cobalt.

More than 60% of the world’s supply of cobalt is mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo – one of the worst places in the world.

Much of it is dug out by hand by local people paid literally pennies, with absolutely no protection against the highly- toxic ore.

A report in 2018 found that at least 35,000 children as young as six were working in these hellish mines.

The raw ore is sold for a pittance to Chinese overseers and exported to China – where it ends up powering the guts of electronic devices.

The devices used by posturing lefties to rage against Cecil Rhodes or Edward Colston or whoever else has attracted the ire of the hypocritical mobocracy.

Many of the Congolese slaves die – of poisoning, under collapsed rock, of sheer exhaustion.

They end up as dead as George Floyd.

But nobody riots for them.
