BOFFINS BREED KILLER BADGERS TO FIGHT ISIS

Woodland favourites will join Brit troops in battle

BADGERS are to be sent to the front line to help Brit troop fight ISIS and other enemies.

A secret programme at the government defence research HQ at Porton Down, Wilts, has made fearsome soldiers out of the reclusive woodland beasts.

The badgers are injected with a genetically- engineered serum which turns them from worm- munching burrow makers into cold- eyed killers.

A source said: “This work is bound to be controversial but it is all about saving British lives.

“Sending a human soldier into an ISIS hideout tunnel is fraught with risk but it is the badger’s natural environment. Operations

“These badgers are tough, fierce and impervious to fear. With the right training and the right drugs combination, they are ideal soldiers in a range of operations.”

It’s thought that a badger squad has already seen active duty alongside the SAS in an undisclosed Middle East location.

Early trials with badgers began after the last Gulf War after soldiers came up against the ferocious, desert- dwelling honey badger.

One defence expert, who cannot be named for security reasons, said: “Early tests involved honey badgers and while fearless and terrifying beasts, they can’t be trained – they are far too savage and are more likely to inflict injury on their handlers rather than the enemy.

“But Brock the European badger, while just as brave and fierce, is easier to train and subject to military discipline – especially after being injected with a badger super- soldier serum that boffins have made.”

However the badger plan is NOT thought to have been prompted by news that Boris Johnson’s adviser Dominic Cummings want to take an axe to defence spending.

Cummings previously complained military procurement “has continued to squander billions of pounds” and who has written in his personal blog of the potential for drone warfare.
