ATROCITIES: Dr Ewen Cameron ( inflicted pain on children

As doctors prepared to place him in a mental institution he fell to his death from a 10th floor hotel room window in New York, with family members convinced he was pushed by someone… or something.

Although they never admitted any involvement, the CIA eventually offered Dr Olson’s family a settlement of £ 470,000.

Other aspects of Project MKUltra are even more harrowing.

Perhaps the worst atrocities were perpetrated by the Canadian psychiatrist Dr Ewen Cameron, who went beyond the call of duty to inflict pain and suffering on his subjects.

He became a master brainwasher who used a practice known as ‘ psychic driving’, which involved reducing patients to comatose vegetables by giving them massive doses of ‘ electro- convulsive therapy’ – electric shocks combined with drug- induced sleep therapy.

Cameron’s victims were jolted so violently they stopped convulsing – their bodies and will broken.

When this ‘ de- patterning’ occurred, patients often became incontinent, unable to feed themselves and could not even state their own name.

The patients were then placed in a ‘ sensory isolation room’ and drugged into a deep sleep, before recorded messages were played over and over for hundreds of hours.

The end result was total memory loss.

One victim was Linda MacDonald, who was experimented on between May 1 and September 12, 1963.

The amount of electricity passed into her brain was around 80 times the maximum amount recommended.

To this day, Linda is unable to remember anything from her birth up until 1963.

At the time she didn’t know her name, age, or where she was.

She didn’t recognise her children, she couldn’t read, drive, cook, or use a toilet.

And not only did she not know her own husband, she didn’t even know what a ‘ husband’ was.

THEODORE Kaczynski,

78, was a promising mathematician and a student at America’s prestigious Harvard university when he took part in a “psychological experiment” – aka

Project MKUltra.

It’s fair to say the events left their mark on Ted – turning him into the twisted serial killer dubbed the Unabomber.

He went on a 20- year bombing campaign against people involved with modern technology, ultimately killing a total of three people and injuring 23 others.

He’s now serving eight life terms without parole at a maximum security facility in Colorado.
