MOURINHO: SPURS ACE IS SON IN A MILLION

- By ANDY MILLOM

JOSE Mourinho insists that Son Heung- min is the most under-rated player in the Premier League.

The Tottenham boss has been singing the praises of the South Korea striker who has already banged in nine goals this season. He has an impressive record for the Londoners with 94 goals and 51 assists in his 237 appearances.

But Mourinho thinks the 28- year- old goes under the radar with more attention on the likes of Harry Kane and newcomer Gareth Bale.

The Special One said: “He cannot do more than what he does. Season after season after season Sonny is showing how good he is. Of course, the better the team is the easier it is for the players to emerge.

“But Sonny is Sonny, everybody knows what he now needs to do to go to a next step — nothing.”

Mourinho thinks the media should do more to beef up Son’s profile — or the player could take steps himself.

He added: “He starts doing shit socially and he becomes famous and he goes into the big headlines because of some weird, silly or naive social behaviour.

“Because he is such an incredible kid also at that level it is up to you to tell how good he is.”

Mourinho is already thinking about offering

Son a new contract even though he still has three years to run on his existing deal.

He doesn’t want to take any chances of losing a prized asset — who could be worth

£ 70m on the transfer market.

The Portugeezer said:

“Son has three years so it is not like we are in an extreme situation of everyone being worried.

“I think it is more a

question of Son loves it here and I believe that he would like to commit his future to the club for more time.

“Everybody in the club is totally in love with this player and trying to make him feel part of the furniture.

“Of course it is normal that the club tries to go from three to four or five or six, I don’t know. But it is normal, it is a very calm situation because he has three more years of contract.

“But I wish, he deserves a deal and the club knows that and I believe sooner or later that they will, without any pressure, arrive to a decision.”
