EAMONN & RUTH FOR PLUM NIPPLE COUNT JOB

Editor offers sacked ITV couple coveted position

- By BARNEY SAMUELS news@ sundaysport. co. uk

BRITAIN today is in a state of unsettling flux.

Old certainties are being discarded as battles rage in the so- called “culture war”.

For Brits – a people naturally suspicious of change – it is an unnerving time.

And those nerves got a violent jangle earlier this month when it was announced that

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes were being DROPPED from their This Morning slot on ITV on Fridays.

It felt as though a comfortable old sofa, that had served a loving family for generations, had been ripped from the sitting room.

The presenters, both 60, are being axed to make way for the show’s first permanent black host, Alison Hammond, who will share the sofa with Dermot O’Leary.

But Ruth and Eamonn have found that as one door closes, another one swings open – as the pair have jointly been offered the plum job as Sunday Sport NIPPLE COUNTERS!

The job, one of the most important in the Sunday Sport family, is to tally up the number of bare nipples in each edition of the paper for the legendary Page 2 Nipple Count.

It has not been offered to anyone outside the

Sunday Sport staff since 2002, when the late Lord Bath was offered the post.

Sunday Sport editor Nick Appleyard said: “We would like to offer Ruth and Eamonn this job as it keeps them central to the glorious ongoing story of Britain.

“Like our newspaper, they are cultural icons.”

As Sunday Sport went to press last night, pals of the couple said they were “considering” the offer.
