UNDER- FIRE Prince Andrew hopes to turn the tide of bad publicity in 2021 by appearing in

The Queen’s second son has had a terrible 2020, with noncery allegations swirling around him thanks to his friendship with the late superpaedo Jeffrey Epstein.

But flunkeys working for the 60- year- old Duke of York reckon all that could change with a bit of screen time in the once- popular ITV soap.

A source said: “His Royal Highness is sick to death of opening his morning newspaper and reading whispers that he’s been up to no good with girls who are not quite legal.

“He flatly denies all allegations made against him and even went on the BBC to fight his corner but that just ended with an argument about whether he sweats or not.

“So he came up with this wheeze to appear on Corrie, which he thinks is still watched and loved by millions of ‘ common people’.

“He wants to join as Roy Cropper’s long- lost super- rich brother who owns a private island in the Caribbean that is definitely not bursting with naked teenage girls.”

Our source added: “The Prince is conscious that when his brother Charles appeared in Corrie in 2000, his popularity skyrocketed.”

The Royals have been very prominent on our screens recently. As well as the Queen’s Speech on Christmas Day, Camilla made a cameo appearance during the Strictly final.

A Coronation Street source said: “Prince Andrew turning up on the Cobbles is a lot less preposterous than sone of the recent storylines, to be honest.”
