The lunatics have taken over the maternity wards
SOMETIMES, the powers- that - be make this column- writing lark easy – really easy.
This week I’ve got Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust to thank.
Yes, Brighton. You know it’s going to be mad already, don’t you?
Staff at maternity wards in that south coast city have been told to use terms like ‘ birthing parents’ and ‘ human milk’ rather than just referring to ‘ mothers’ and ‘ breast milk’ or ‘ mother’s milk’.
They also suggest that ‘ chest feeding’ is a kinder way to describe ‘ breast feeding’.
This is all, apparently, to drive out “mainstream transphobia”.
Crime
Yes, because referring to a person who has just shat out a baby as a ‘ woman’ or a ‘ mother’ is, according to Brighton in 2021, some kind of hate crime.
On account of all the men there who are apparently giving birth.
Twenty years ago, stating that “men give birth” would have been a ticket to the madhouse.
These days, even calling such a statement stupid could get you locked up. Banned from social media at the very least.
Brighton hospitals justified their latest move with what is perhaps the most perfect piece of politically- correct garbage I’ve ever read.
It said: “Gender identity can be a source of oppression and health inequality. We are consciously using the words ‘ women’ and ‘ people’ together to make it clear that we are committed to working on addressing health inequalities for all those who use our services.
“As midwives and birth workers, we focus on improving access and health outcomes for marginalised and disadvantaged groups. Women are frequently disadvantaged in healthcare, as are trans and non- binary people.
“By continuing to use the term ‘ woman’ we commit to working on addressing health inequalities for all who use our services.”
And this bit is a corker: “We also recognise that there is currently biological essentialism and transphobia present within elements of mainstream birth narratives and discourse.”
Emotional
WHAT THE FLYING F** K DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!
The document drivels on: “We strive to protect our trans and non- binary service users and healthcare professionals from additional persecution as a consequence of terminology changes, recognising the significant impact this can have on psychological and emotional wellbeing.”
Love, if you are a woman who thinks she’s a man but reserves the right – as a man – to have babies, I would suggest your “psychological wellbeing” is a ship that’s long sailed.
We are told by leftie headbangers that the NHS is on its knees due to “years of Tory cuts”.
But it still finds the time and the funds to bend over backwards for a tiny minority who deny thousands of years of human experience, biology and bloody common sense.
The lunatics may not have taken over the asylum but they’re sure calling the shots at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust.
THERE are six differences between the two pictures. Can you spot them all?
