Burnley are mad to ditch Dyche says Carragher

-

JAMIE Carragher thinks Burnley have made a massive mistake in sacking manager Sean Dyche.

The Clarets made the shock move to get rid of the gaffer as they sit in the relegation zone with matches running out.

The final straw for the Lancashire side’s board was last week’s defeat at fellow strugglers Norwich – which came just days after they beat

Everton.

Carragher thinks the club bosses have lost their senses.

He points out that Dyche has worked wonders over the past decade he’s been in charge at Turf Moor with a fraction of the funds other Premier League sides enjoy.

He said: “What a joke! If you had given him a decent budget you would never have had a worry about getting relegated!”

Chairman Alan Pace said: “Firstly, we would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Sean and his staff for their achievements at the Club over the last decade.

“During his time at Turf Moor, Sean has been a credit both on and off the pitch, respected by players, staff, supporters, and the wider football community.

“However, results this season have been disappointing and, while this was an incredibly difficult decision, with eight crucial games of the campaign remaining, we feel a change is needed to give the squad the best possible chance of retaining its Premier League status.

“Under- 23s coach Mike Jackson, assisted by Academy Director Paul Jenkins, Under23s goalkeeping coach Connor King and Club Captain Ben Mee have been asked to take charge of the team for Sunday’s game with West Ham United.

“The process of replacing Sean has begun and further announcements will be made to supporters in due course.”

The bookies have installed Big Sam Allardyce as 3- 1 favourite to take over, with Cheltenham gaffer Michael Duff

4- 1, Rafael Benitez 10s and Wayne Rooney

14- 1.
