THE VOICE OF BRITAIN We Britons will NEVER be cowered

-

THESE are indeed dark days for the British Empire and our friends in our far- flung Commonwealth.

Bowed by a sinister contagion bred by godless Peking’s evil scientists, we now face another test:

Surging fuel prices caused by the warlike rampaging of snowy Muscovy’s barbarian hordes.

Meanwhile, even the innocent pleasure of a holiday in sunny lands is frustrated by the devious machinations of the Napoleonic French.

Has a nation ever been so beset by so many enemies?

Well, yes.

Here in Britain we are well used to standing alone, ‘gainst a host of foes.

As a beacon of civilisation in an unruly and unhappy world, Great Britain has long been viewed with envious eyes.

Time and again, the world’s would-be conquerors, from Catholic Spain to Hitlerite Germany, have sought to defeat our nation.

All have come a cropper against the steadfast bastion of Britain.

And have these repeated assaults reduced us to paranoid barbarism? To cringe from the world and cower?

Not a bit of it.

After each trial, Britain has dusted itself down and carried on as before.

Cheery milkmen whistle, elderly maidens bicycle to church on the Sabbath, vicars tousle the hair of red-faced children and the strongbacked British worker bends to his task.

The heart of Britain continues to beat whatever is thrown our way.

That is what so irks our enemies from across the seas, who lack our pluck and resolve.

They repeatedly try to crush us. But in more than 1,000 years they have failed in every attempt.

Their latest attempts to subdue this blessed land, on which the Lord God has smiled, shall also fail.
