You’ll never get steak in traffic with Zafira BBQ!

Sausages are ready HANDYMAN Graham Purkiss turned a written- off Vauxhall Zafira into a BBQ after reading how they were prone to catch fire without warning.

Manufacturers began recalling the motors eight months ago after hundreds burst into flames with no warning.

But Graham, 56, decided to make a virtue of the Zafira’s fault and fitted burners to the interior of the vehicle and turning the roof into a giant HOTPLATE.

He laughed: “When I saw a picture of a Vauxhall Zafira in flames it struck me that it would be great to have a Zafira barbecue in the front garden.

“I got one that had been scrapped for just £ 150 and set to work. In practical terms, it’s almost entirely useless – the cooking surface is way too high – but it’s a talking point.”

But local council officials in Biddulph, Staffs, have ordered Graham to remove the burned- out Zafira shell from his front lawn – or face prosecution.

Vauxhall has twice recalled more than 230,000 Zafira B cars in the UK.
