Gangsters lose millions on fake yeast extract

-

CRIMINAL gangs have blown MILLIONS making FAKE MARMITE after supplies of the yeast extract were cut off by Britain’s biggest grocer last week.

Tesco stopped selling the sticky muck and other famous household brands to online shoppers over a dispute with its biggest supplier, Unilever.

The Anglo- Dutch firm wanted to increase prices in the UK to compensate for the sharp decrease in the value of the pound following the Brexit vote.

But the wrangle was sorted on Thursday night after talks.

Now gangsters have been left with vast reserves of Marmite which they hope to sell at an inflated price in the event of any future shortage.

A source at the National Criminal Intelligence Agency said: “Compared with pushing drugs or trafficking prostitutes, cornering the Marmite market seemed like a path to easy riches.

“Now they’ve been left with egg on their faces… well, Marmite, anyway.”

“They see themselves as businessmen but they are criminals.

“Do we really want our Marmite supplies held hostage by rogues?

“Personally, I can’t stand the stuff but the wife seems to love it.”
