BAKE OFF STAR BOILS ORPHAN’S RABBIT

- By BRAD CHADWICK news@ sundaysport. co. uk

THE winner of a Bake Off style cookery show has been stripped of her title and £ 1m in sponsorship after pulling the head off a live rabbit . . . in an ORPHANAGE!

Julia Bakker won the 2010 series of Dutch cooking show Laat de Cakles Niet Verbranden and became the Netherlands’ answer to Mary Berry.

She’s made a fortune from personal appearances, cook books and TV shows but her gravy train crashed into the buffers last week.

Bakker, 58, was making rabbit pie How will she earn a crust now? at an orphanage near Amsterdam, and being filmed for the Dutch version of Children in Need.

Unknown to the production crew though, she had brought the main ingredient ALIVE and proceeded to yank the bunny’s head off, before chopping it up and tossing the bits into a pan.

A source at the orphanage told Sunday Sport: “When Julia brought the rabbit out, the children got so excited. But then she pulled the rabbit’s head off. There was a stunned silence… and then the screaming started. Some sensitive children wet themselves and we had to hand out quite a few sedatives.”

When news got out, Bakker was dropped as the face of a leading flour brand.

She also received death threats from Dutch animal rights fanatics.

A spokesman for the divorced grandmother last night said: “This is how Julia has always dispatched rabbits for the pot.” BUNNY HABIT: Bakker always rips heads off live rabbits
