was asking for trouble.

“I became too big to fit behind the counter at the shop and I was beginning to smell a bit like bad mince. That’s not a smell you want around a food establishment.

“In 2010 the doctors diagnosed me with Tannhauser- Goole Syndrome, which means I can eat much faster than I can shit: weight gain is inevitable.

“And as I have such a sweet tooth, I was scoffing sugar- laden snacks which went straight onto my arse and hips.”

But in 2014 – after almost 10 years in her pit – Linda was inspired by a new carer, who encouraged her to stand up.

She said: “It was an effort but I managed it. Then my carer began washing in the folds of flab which were a bit grubby, to be honest.

Amazing

“There was suddenly a thump on the floor. My carer – her name was Elenora – said ‘ Oh, what it this?’

“It was my phone, after all those years! And it still had a bit of power left! What an amazing piece of electronic engineering.”

Linda is now well on her way to her target weight of 30 stone and is earning again as a plus- size nude model – and she’s still using her trusty Nokia.

She said: “That phone falling out of my flab was like a sign.”

The original version of the 3310 was retired in 2005, at which point, according to Nokia, it had sold 126million units, making it the world’s best- selling phone.

The phone gained a cult following due to its impressively long battery life, indestructibility, and the addictive game Snake II.
