BRAVE Brian Johnson says he has been victimized by bigoted council bosses who sacked him for coming to work dressed as a woman.

The 55- year- old says he come out as a transvestite last month after years of struggling with his identity.

But when he turned up at his job as a lollipop man in his new female clothes the police were called and he was fired on the spot.

Now Brian, who has worked as crossing guard form more than 25 years, is determined to win his job back – and then work dressed how he likes.

Speaking from his home in the Cumbrian market town of Splint, Brian said: “This is discrimination pure and simple.

“If I want to dress as a woman then it is my right to do so. My human rights, protected by the EU, mean I can identify how I please and dress accordingly.

‘ The parish council sacked me because I am a transvestite. That is illegal and I want justice.”

Describing the day he was sacked, dad- of- seven Brian said: “I was nervous because it was my first time dressed in public as a woman.

“I have spent a lot of years dressing as a girl in secret and felt the time was right to come out. So on the day I carefully chose my outfit to represent the type of woman I want to be.

I picked out my best thong – it’s pink and has a sheath in it to keep my tackle out of the way. I teamed it with a lovely pink fishnet top that matched my lipstick.

“And because it was a bit parky out I put on a pair of hold- up stockings.

“I was nervous but proud of the decisions I had made and the fact that I had finally come to terms with who I truly am.

Yelling

“So I said goodbye to the kids and walked out of my front door with a big grin on my face.

“But when I got to my patch outside the primary school things started to go downhill.

“People started laughing and pointing – and then I noticed all the mums were crossing their kids over the road about 100 yards from me.

“That’s not safe so I started yelling at them, ‘ Get over here. I want your kids here!’

“But they ignored me so I shouted, ‘ Come- on kids, come to me. I need to use my big stick!’ but it did no good, none of the parents let their children near me.

“I was only trying to keep them safe but a policeman turned up and a man from the council who told me I was fired.

“After all my years of service I was disgusted at the way I have been treated.”

And by coming to Sunday Sport Brian, pictured in the outfit he wore on the day he was sacked, is hoping his employers at Splint Council will reconsider his case.

He said: “I know Sunday Sport has a great history of campaigning journalism so hopefully telling my story might get this whole thing moving.

“I love being a lollipop man but I also like being a transvestite. I don’t see why I can’t do both.

“It’s only the small- mindedness of Splint Parish Council that is stopping me doing what I want.”

A spokesman for Splint Parish Council said: “For crying out loud his bum cheeks were hanging out. We had no choice but to sack him.

“Brian is welcome to be a transvestite and a lollipop man but he is not welcome to do so in a tiny thong with his bits flopping around in the wind. It’s just not acceptable.

“Our officer went to see him. It was obscene. You could damn well nearly see his brown eye!”
