Drunk mum ‘ best sober’

-

A MAN assaulted by his drunk mother told a court that she is “the best mum in the world… when sober”.

His comment was relayed by Sanjay Jerath, prosecuting, as Alison O’Sullivan wept in the dock at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.

She admitted assault by beating and threatening behaviour and was put on probation for a year. The 51- year- old will get help for an alcohol problem.

Mr Jerath said her son had a leg injury and needs a crutch to get around. But he fell over when his mother took the crutch.

The prosecutor added: “Her son is motional and says when she is drunk she is difficult to deal with. She is the best mum in the world when sober.”

Defence Stacey Mighty, said O’Sullivan, appeared to be a “binge drinker.”

She added: “When under the influence of alcohol, she accepts she is not a pleasant person.”
