STEAMROLLER DRIVER NECKED FORTIFIED WINE AT THE WHEEL

- ED’S ELECTRIC SOUP NIGHTMARE

SQUEAKY- CLEAN Ed Sheeran revealed the first time he got drunk was all down to the Buckfast.

The singer revealed his Scots cousins took him out one night and let him try the ‘ traditional’ tipple.

He told the Capital Scotland radio presenter: “That was my first actual night out. I was 15 and my cousin took me to a dub step club. I have a bunch of cousins who live up here and they all had these black bottles and they’re drinking this kind of sludge.

“They said, have some, and man, it kicks you!

“I also know about the next day as well. It’s not very pleasant.” A STEAMROLLER driver was branded “spectacularly stupid” after he was spotted drinking a bottle of Buckfast as he drove along a busy motorway.

Thomas Dow was seen necking the notorious tonic wine as he drove a van load of colleagues more than 100 miles during the rush hour.

Horrified cops pulled Dow over after spotting him driving at speed, with one hand on the steering wheel and the other holding the bottle. Perth Sheriff Court was told Dow had been drinking juice in the van but started drinking Buckfast when that ran out.

Dow, 31, of Inverkeithing, Fife, admitted drink driving on the southbound carriageway of the M90 last October.

Described as a specialist driver who was qualified to work on road rollers, he gave a reading of 94 milligrams of alcohol in 100mls of blood. The limit is 80mls.

Sheriff William Wood banned Dow from driving for 12 months and ordered him to carry out 100 hours unpaid work in the community.
