Hammer attack fugitive’s cop car cock- up!

A VICIOUS hammer attacker on the run was caught when he flagged down a POLICE CAR while hitch- hiking.

Jansen Simon, 30, had been a fugitive since fleeing a bar fight in 2013.

He struck his victim with a hammer, leaving him with a fractured skull.

Simon ( above) waved from the side of the road as the patrol car approached and got in after it pulled over.

But he found himself sitting next to a deputy sheriff who recognised him from his facial tattoos.

Police spokesman Brennan Matherne, of Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana, said: “We’re not sure if the guy realised he was flagging down a police car but it was a fullymarked police vehicle.

“He got in and then realised what he had just done.
