Why did John Craven reject our Countryfile Calendar photo?
COUNTRY SIDE ISSUE: Pete wants explanation from John Craven THE Countryfile Photo Competition is the highlight of the year for amateur nature snappas.
Each year, viewers of the BBC1 rural affairs show are invited to send in their best countryside pics for consideration for the Countryfile Calendar.
For 12 lucky finalists, that dream comes true, but for every winner, there are sackloads of entries that don’t cut the mustard.
Most entrants simply shrug and wait for the next year’s contest to open.
Not Pete Leicester. For the 53- year- old from Runcorn, Cheshire, was CONVINCED his “Nude in cowfield” composition featuring wife Heidi would make it – and now he wants a personal explanation from Countryfile frontman John Craven.
Pipe fitter Pete raged: “The picture of our Heidi COUNTRYFAIL: Pete’s pic of cows and his wife Heidi was rejected was absolutely glorious. There’s no reason why John Craven should not have out this on the front of his calendar.
“If he’s going to say that our Heidi is not good enough for his calendar, I’d like him to explain his reasons to me, man to man.”
Last night John Craven was unavailable for comment but a source close to the calendar said: “We can’t put photos of a woman with her teats and minge out in the calendar. Even with cows.”
