10things you might not know about SIMON COWELL

-

MUSIC mogul Simon Cowell was handed his own star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame last week.

The 58- year- old was honoured in a glitzy ceremony which saw his protégées Leona Lewis, 33, and Kelly Clarkson, 36, perform.

Here’s 10 things you might not know about the X Factor guru… 1 WHEN Simon was 12, he was arrested after he hijacked a bus with a pea gun. He said: “Myself and a friend were going on a bus and we thought it would be a joke to put the gun to the driver’s head and say take us to where we were going. We got to the other end and there were cop cars waiting for us. They threw us in jail.” 2 IN the 1980s he left EMI records to form E& S Music. But in 1989, Simon found himself so deep in debt that he had to move back in with his parents. 3 NAUGHTY Si attended 16 schools because of bad behaviour. He eventually dropped out at the age of 16. 4 SIMON turned down an offer of £ 1million to be the face of Viagra in 2007 and said: “That’s a f** king insult.” 5 AFTER school he took a job as a runner on the set of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. Actor Jack Nicholson’s character famously breaks through a door with an axe in one scene – it was Simon’s job to polish his chopper! 6 BACK in 1990, Cowell appeared on the telly series Sale of the Century and won a set of kitchen utensils. 7 SI has appeared as a guest voice in an episode of The Simpsons in which he gets beaten up by Homer Simpson. 8 HIS voice was also heard on an episode of Family Guy in which he told Stewie his singing was so awful that he should be dead. 9 HE is allergic to lamb’s wool so has to wear cashmere sweaters. 10 EVERY morning while he eats breakfast, Cowell watches old cartoons – his favourites are vintage Hanna- Barbera classics.
