Be expected, says manager after hostile chanting
not been part of the starting XI since October.
He started all five league and cup games throughout the month of October but failed to impress and since then had only been used as a substitute.
Asked about Khazri, Moyes said: “I thought Wahbi played well today.
“He played in a role which kept him a bit more disciplined.
“He kept the ball well for us today and scored a really good goal from a corner kick. “I was pleased with Wahbi today.” When asked why he had not made more use of him, he added: “I can only tell you my choice has been to play other people because of what I have seen.” Sunderland fell behind inside five minutes as Ayew capitalised on sloppy defending.
Khazri’s goal restored parity before the half-hour before James Collins put the visitors back in front immediately after half-time, but substitute Fabio Borini levelled again in the final minute of normal time.
Borini made a point of celebrating his goal in front of the dugout but Moyes made light of it saying: “I don’t care where they celebrate, just so long as they score!”
Moyes was annoyed at the two soft goals Sunderland conceded but felt his side had showed fight to twice fight back after falling behind. “I thought we played well today,” he said.
“We tried to get after them right away but unfortunately we went a goal down quite early which was poor.
“Great credit to the lads for fighting back in the first half and in the second half.
“I was disappointed with both goals but not disappointed with the general play.
“I thought we played better today, we passed the ball better, we had bits of control of the game at different times – not all the time, but parts of the game. That led to some better football.”
