Adamant to Stand and Deliver

-

ADAMANT ended last season on a winning note and can carry on where he left off with victory in the Betfred “Supports Jack Berry House’’ Handicap at Salisbury.

Having landed the race 12 months ago with Mainstream, trainer Sir Michael Stoute has solid claims of again pocketing the prize with the son of Dalakhani.

Given a mark of 81 for his success in an extended mile maiden at Windsor, it looks like one he is more than capable of taking advantage of against a number of more exposed rivals.

Although hard pressed hard late on in his maiden, Adamant responded well, pulling smartly clear from the front in the manner that a step up in trip would suit.

While there is the slight question mark over the quicker surface, with both his runs coming on good to soft, plenty of those that finished in behind him on that occasion have since gone on to land races themselves to bolster the form.

James Tate’s Take Shelter can go one better than on her debut at Newmarket last month by taking the Betfred “Home Of Goals Galore’’ Fillies’ Conditions Stakes.

The Saeed Manana-owned filly showed plenty of speed on her debut and was only just denied a winning debut by a well-supported runner from the yard of Tom Dascombe.

With that horse now being talked about as heading for a Listed contest on her next start, Take Shelter can have her rivals hiding for cover.

The silks of owner Sheikh Obaid Al Maktoum have been carried to glory by plenty of horses under the watchful eye of trainer Roger Varian and Materialist may be the next to do so at Thirsk.
