It’s official - Warnock is calling foul on referee

-

CARDIFF boss Neil Warnock slammed referee Graham Scott following Newcastle United’s 2-0 victory in South Wales – claiming “it is no wonder” he had a poor display “if Mike Riley is his tutor.”

The Bluebirds’ manager has made his dislike of Riley clear publicly over the years and has now extended his criticism towards Scott.

Christian Atsu won and then converted a free-kick to score Newcastle’s first, while Cardiff captain Sean Morrison saw a first-half header disallowed for a foul on Ciaran Clark.

Warnock questioned both of those crucial decisions.

“I don’t see anything wrong with Morrison’s header,” Warnock, who was spoken to by Scott during the second half for airing his views from the touchline, fumed.

“When you look at it, it is a very soft free-kick.

“You look at the free-kick he gave for their first goal, it is a nothing free-kick.”

Warnock’s criticism of Scott’s display did not stop there, either.

Instead, he insisted he would need to “educate” his players on how to deal with referees who officiate games in such a way.

Warnock added: “We probably have to start educating players on what to do when you have a referee like that.

“I thought Scotty had a bad game.

“I thought he was very, very poor.

“In general I thought his positioning and interpretation were poor.

“Aleksandar Mitrovic comes on, never looks at the ball three times, just looks at Morrison.

“It is a foul every time and the referee never sees it.

“Why? Because he is not educated.

“It is no wonder if Mike Riley is his tutor.”

Warnock also lamented his lack of a proven goalscorer, saying: “I thought we had good chances - that is why you pay for quality and why we have to get more goals in the team.” Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock
