Rallying call from Queen

Cosby must face retrial

-

THE Queen has rallied the nation on her official birthday describing how, despite a “succession of terrible tragedies” in recent weeks, the UK has been resolute in the “face of adversity”.

A minute’s silence was observed before the Trooping of the Colour ceremony, and the head of state said everyone was “determined” to support all those rebuilding their lives, with the country reeling from the Grenfell Tower block inferno that has so far claimed 30 lives and the recent terrorist attacks in Manchester and London.

The Queen said: “It is difficult to escape a very sombre national mood. As a nation, we continue to reflect and pray for all those who have been directly affected by these events.” PROSECUTORS have said they will retry veteran entertainer Bill Cosby on sexual assault charges after his first trial ended in a hung jury.

Jurors deliberated for more than 52 hours over six days before telling a judge they could not reach a unanimous decision on whether the star drugged and molested Temple University employee Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.

The judge at Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown, Pennsylvania, then declared a mistrial.

Cosby remained stoic, while Constand embraced the person next to her.

The 79-year-old had been charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault.
