Low scoring in an easy Lintz win

IN the Northumber­land and Tyneside Senior League, Percy Main entertaine­d Lintz at St. Johns Green.

In a low-scoring game, the home side batted first and made just a paltry 66, with Kieron Gohery claiming 5-24, with two wickets apiece for Jordan Clennell and Nick Young.

In reply, Lintz made 67-4 and had Ryan McVittie to thank for his 27 not out, to get his side over the line, to win by six wickets.

Whitburn helped themselves to a vital North East Premier League win, to help them in their potential relegation struggle, beating Eppleton by 73 runs, at home.

Brydon Carse top scored with 37 in a total of 174 all out, with Craig Scurr taking 4-46. When Eppleton batted, they managed only 101 runs, with Paul Davidson taking a brilliant 5-35 and Kieran Waterson helped him by returning 3-18.

NYSD ECB Premier League Leaders Great Ayton took the maximum 25 points, from their away game at bottom club Norton.

Batting first they scored a healthy 259-7, with opener Chris Batchelor making 82, Walid Ghauri 79, Chris Allinson 30 and Pitigala Jeewantha adding 34, with Mark Binks returning 3-95.

In reply, Norton could only manage 64 all out, with Pitigala Jeewantha returning 5-25 and Joe Marsay 4-34.

Esh Winning welcomed Durham Cricket League leaders Easington and pulled off an excellent win against them. Esh made 250-4 declared, after openers John Carmedy hit 73 and David Lawlor 60, with Stuart Hall adding 57 not out and Paul Chivers 32.

In reply, Easington scored 174 all out, with Ryan Higgins scoring 42, with Paul Chivers returning 3-29, with the ball.

In the Northumber­land Cricket league, second placed Backworth scored a mammoth total of 341-0, at home to Ashington RCC.

Skipper Alan Robson hit 169 not out and fellow opener Ben Sutton scored 144 not out. Faced with this huge score, Ashington RCC, lost early wickets and at 37-3 were struggling.

Lewis Tanney scored 33, but James Morgan took 3-20, alongside Chris Liddle, Mark Minto and Scott Shannon, each taking two wickets, with the visitors all out for 117.
