HATS THE WAY TO DO IT FOR RACEGOERS
broughtbro A TOUCHto Redcarof glamour Racecourse was as crowds gathered for the annual Ladies’ Day event.
Women wearing their best outfitsout provided a touch of classclas to the race day, with prizes awarded for best-dressed and best hat of the day.
The racecourse also teamed up with Redcar-based Betty LeighLei Boutique, which is in the NorthernNor Quarter of the town, and were around to showcase a s selection of their outfits in the fashion show in the winners’ enclosure.
Alongside seven exhilarating races, competition “spotters”ters had been mingling throughthro the crowds, selecting 10 finalists for the BestDressedDre Lady and Best Hat competitions.
LocalL lass Stacey Simpson, 30, from Redcar won the BestDressedDre Lady competition and said it was “absolutely amazing” that she’d won on her very first trip to Ladies’ Day.
She said: “It’s been a great day but it has been quite windy so I’ve had to keep a hold of my hat! “I actually won best-dressed at the Ladies and Gentleman evening held here two years ago, so to be chosen for something like that again is fantastic.” The victor in the Best Hat competition was Michelle Harkin, 51, who had travelled up to the event from Grimsby. A self-described “hobbyist hattist” Michelle made the leopard-print fascinator herself and said she was “really happy” to have won after being chosen from 10 others. She won a Bespoke fascinator and matching clutch bag provided by Chic Hats; a Sif Jakobs pendant and earring set provided by Market Cross Jewellers; Gel nails voucher provided by Orange Kerr Hair & Beauty; a flower bouquet; and a bottle of bubbly.
