CHESTERFIELD............0 Monk tastes first win out in Portugal
GARRY Monk enjoyed his first victory as Boro boss as his side ran out 2-0 winners against Chesterfield.
Middlesbrough started with Konstantopoulos in goal, behind, Fabio, Fry, Gibson and Baptiste in defence. Clayton, Leadbitter and Forshaw filled the midfield places, with Soisalo, Stuani and Gestede making up the 11.
Cristhian Stuani put Boro ahead with a smart finish in the first half before Patrick Bamford doubled the lead from the spot in the second.
The Middlesbrough manager changed all players at half-time but stuck with 4-2-3-1.
After the break, Jonny Howson and Marten de Roon played in front of the back four with Adama Traore (right), Gaston Ramirez (centre) and Marcus Tavernier (left) in the attacking midfield positions behind front man Patrick Bamford.
Boro controlled the game throughout and were rarely troubled defensively by their League Two opponents.
