SAVE CASH WITH ASH Student tried to meet ‘teen boy’ for sex

-

A UNIVERSITY student told police he was “horny” after being caught by paedophile hunters trying to meet a schoolboy for sex.

Pervert Fakhri Anang thought he was chatting to A 14-year-old online but was in fact messaging a fake profile set up by Guardians of the North.

A court heard the Northumbria University student, who was in his final year of a mass communications degree, started talking to the boy, called “Zen”, and immediately asked if he wanted to perform a sex act on him.

Using the profile name “Alexander”, Anang continued to repeatedly ask for sexual contact, despite being told that “Zen” was only 14, and suggested he paid for a taxi to bring the boy to his address, N e w c a s t l e Crown Court was told.

But, the 21year-old – a student from Indonesia living in student halls – was confronted by a member of Guardians of the North outside his home, where he pleaded: “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, don’t call the police. I need sex”, prosecutors said.

Anang was arrested and admitted in interview that he had intended for “the boy” to perform a sex act on him, stating: “I know it was not right, but I was horny.”

Now Anang, who is due to leave the UK next month when his visa expires, has been given a suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to one count of attempting to meet a child follow- ing grooming.

Michael Bunch, prosecuting, said Guardians of the North, an undercover group who pose as teenagers on the internet in a bid to catch those looking for sex with children, set up a fake profile on May 2 and, the following day, Anang began messaging them.

The first contact was the student asking the boy for sexual activity.

Mr Bunch said: “The defendant asked repeatedly fo sexual contact to take place and, at an early stage in the conversation, it was put to him that the profile to whom he was talking was a person who was 14 years old.

“That didn’t stop the defendant from contact he was having with the profile, and he continued to suggest the person using the name Zen could come to his address in order for sexual activity to take place.”

Anang, of Victoria Halls, Shieldfield, Newcastle, then suggested he paid for a taxi to bring the boy to his home and arrangements were made before he said: “You know its illegal having sex under 18?”

Anang was given an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, but he was not made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order as he will be leaving the UK next month.

Nick Peacock, defending, said Anang had now finished his degree and will be seeking work back in Indonesia. Fakhri Anang
