Committed fans at festival

SOUL BAND TOP BILL FOR DAY-LONG EVENT

THOUSANDS of music lovers rocked out as The Commitment­s brought a touch of soul to the Northumber­land Live festival.

The “World’s Hardest Working Band” headlined the day-long event yesterday, which drew in the crowds to Bedlington’s Gallagher Park.

The eight-piece band – headed up by Dave Finnegan who played bouncer and drummer Mickah Wallace in The Commitment­s film – played all the classics, including Mustang Sally and In the Midnight Hour.

They were joined on the bill by The Sleeze Sisters, The Understudi­es, Just So and Unplugged.

Festival-goers also enjoyed a range of food, as well as a display by the Royal Logistics Corps’ par- achuteh di displayl team, Th The Sil Silverr Stars.

Northumber­land Live organiser, Mel Jackson, said: “The dayy has been fantastic – it has been jumping.

“We had a steady stream off people coming over the day andd so many people have told me they’ve been loving the music.”

Bedlington Central councillor Russell Wallace was among the thousands of people who flocked to the festival. He said: “We are absolutely delighted that so many people have come to the town to enjoy the day.

“Whatever your taste in music, there has been something for everyone and it is fantastic to have The Commitment­s on the show.

“Hopefully this will lead to a lot more events like to coming to Bedlington. They would be crazy not to come back again next year.” Northumber­land Live music festival
