Family affair to boost Stokesley

STOKESLEY kept the pressure on the teams at the top of the NYSD, with a convincing nine-wicket win over relegation-threatened Seaton Carew.

Seaton batted first and made 173-8, thanks to Usman Arshad who scored 98, with Aubrey Swanepoel claiming a brilliant 6-32 with the ball.

Stokesley skipper Andrew Weighell then cracked 110 not out, from 91 balls. And with his brother James Weighell, scoring 47 not out, they claimed the 20 points.

In the NEPL, Newcastle scored a mammoth 356-4 against the Durham Cricket Academy.

Joshua Phillipe scored an excellent 139 and Jacques Du Toit hit an unbeaten 132, alongside 46 from Ben McGee, with Faizan Hussain claiming 3-72 with the ball.

When The Academy batted, they made 97-5, with Solomon Bell hitting 28 and Cameron Fyfe 25.

Shotley Bridge’s NTSL title ambitions took a nose dive, when they lost at home to Lanchester.

Shotley took first knock and made 175 all out, with Phillip Burn scoring 59 and 41 from Kieran Milburn, with Callum Barnes taking an excellent 6-19, with the ball.

Lanchester lost early wickets, but Sam Crookes hit 58 and Greg Halliday was 38 not out in a total of 176-8, despite Brown taking 3-15.

Cramlingto­n’s NCL relegation woes continued, when they collapsed to 46 all out at home to GEM.

Aqueel Ahmed took with an excellent 7-29, which, along with Amir Mukhtar’s 3-13 did the damage with the ball.

Earlier, GEM had scored 202 all out, thanks to Atif Mansoor with 30, Zohaib Shaid 52 not out, with Bryan Walker taking 3-50.

DCL League leaders Tudhoe racked up 215-9 at home to Dawdon.

Alex McGrath scored 35 with Dean Thexton making 34, alongside Andrew Carrick’s 35.

David Coates took 3-37, Clayton Malgas 3-39 and Liam Cowell returned 3-65. Dawdon in reply, were skittled for 90, with Ian Grainger taking 4-21 and Roshan Jayatissa taking an excellent 5-14, to win the game. Russell Hughes batting for Alnmouth & Lesbury in their clash with Benwell & Walbottle
