Moor go down to leaders Brackley

-

SPENNYMOOR Town lost their perfect start to the National League North season with a 2-0 defeat at top-of-the-table side Brackley Town.

The Moors made an impressive start to the game, settling quickly against their in-form hosts.

Just after the quarter of an hour mark, Kallum Griffiths sent a vicious free kick across the face of the Brackley goal and just past the far post.

Slowly but surely the hosts settled and had the ball in the net, but Lee Ndlovu’s effort was disallowed after the referee gave a corner after deciding that the ball had already crossed the line for a corner.

However, the former Grantham Town striker would not be denied on 40 minutes as he put his side in front.

Alex Gudger’s corner was met by Ndlovu and he headed his side into the lead.

The striker was at it again early in the second half as he almost added a second goal but he couldn’t convert an Ellis Myles cross from close range.

The hosts kept on creating chances and it was no surprise that the ever-dangerous Ndlovu was on the end of them.

A Shane Byrne cross found the striker free in the Moors area, but his looping header landed on top of Dan Lowson’s net.

The Moors had James Curtis sent off for a second bookable offence with 10 minutes left and shortly after his dismissal, substitute Matt Lowe doubled the hosts’ lead with a cool finish.

That goal was enough to seal the points for the hosts, who remain top of the National League North table.
