LIAM Payne has lifted the lid on his life with Geordie star Cheryl.
The former One Direction singer – now going solo in the career department – feels like the luckiest guy in the world.
Despite the 10-year age gap between him and the pop princess, life is good, Liam has told the Telegraph .
“She’s even more amazing than I thought. I was watching her do Fight For This Love – her debut solo single, from 2009 – when I was a kid, and now we’re together with a kid,” he said.
“I feel like I’m X Factor’s biggest winner.”
Liam also told how it is helpful to have a partner in the same industry as him.
Cheryl’s career began on 2002’s Popstars: The Rivals and she had massive success with Girls Aloud before going solo.
“We think about the same things,” he said.
“She understands what my life is like. She knows what it’s like to sit on the Graham Norton couch [or] we can talk about her L’Oréal work. It’s not that we’re ‘a brand’ as a family, but we can help each other.”
Liam also said that he struggled to write music after leaving One Direction – because he was too happy.
He told the Daily Telegraph: “I had a bit of a problem formulating what was going on in my brain into the music at first because I was so content with everything in my personal life. It’s easy to spill your guts out on a ballad. But I was thinking, ‘Oh God, I’m really happy – what am I going to write about?!’”
The 24-year-old star and Cheryl welcomed baby Bear in March after just over a year of dating.
Liam revealed that the baby boy was named because of the growling noises he made during his first sleeps.
The couple have been fiercely protective of their son, sharing very little of the infant on social media.
In an interview with The Telegraph, singer Liam explained the decision to shield his son.
He said: “We’ve only shown him in glimpses. We don’t want him to have the pressure that me and Cheryl have, as household names.
“We want him to enjoy himself first and then figure it out.”
He also confessed that his infamous ‘eye’ tattoo is so “my missus can always keep an eye on me”.
The couple, who live in a mansion near Woking, Surrey, have been dating since 2016 following Cheryl’s split from second husband Jean Bernard Fernandez-Versini.
Cheryl grew up on a Walker council estate and shot to fame after winning the place in Girls Aloud. She’s had several No 1 hits and has also been a judge on The X Factor. Liam Payne has opened up about his life with Geordie pop star Cheryl, below
