A NEWCASTLE University graduate will be one of those battling it out on the Apprentice when the hit show returns to our screens this week.

Joanna Jarjue, 23, currently works as a digital marketing manager and helps companies improve their digital footprint.

She’s one of 18 candidates who will be taking on business tasks each week with the hope of securing Lord Sugar’s £250,000 by winning him over with their business plan.

Joanna, who graduated with a degree in politics from Newcastle in 2015, said: “Just getting on the programme is a massive achievement for me personally.

“Thousands of people have applied to get on the show, with people from Manchester, Birmingham and London all applying.

“Right now, all I have to say is positive things about the whole experience.

“It is a once opportunity.”

Despite being the youngest contestant on the show, Joanna said it would not hold her back.

“I think it is obviously a different experience for everyone, with everyone having different backgrounds,” she said. “You know, being the youngest, naturally, I’m not going to have as much experience as some other people, but overall it has been positive.”

Gambia-born Joanna, who now lives in Manchester, considers being determined and a great talker to be her best qualities.

She hates being patronised, but insists she will remain resilient on the show.

Joanna added: “My demeanour can in a lifetime beb relatedl d to theh saying, ‘ ‘Don’t’ wakek a sleeping lion’ – if you underestimate me I might just bite.”

The Apprentice begins on Wednesday, October 4 at 9pm on BBC One.
