CRAIG JOHNS BREAKS THE FIRST RULE Knockout Christmas card for Aaron’s fans

-

TICKETS are on sale for a huge mixed martial arts events which sees two of the world’s biggest promotions join forces for a Christmas party on Tyneside.

BAMMA and Bellator bring their show to the Metro Radio Arena on December 15.

And the card is already starting to take shape, with Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers one of the big names confirmed.

Chalmers has so far had two professional bouts, displaying just how serious he is taking on the sport following a firstround submission win and then a firstround knockout win.

That knockout win became a huge internet hit, with Aaron showing real skills to set up his opponent for the big finish.

Offering punditry on Dave on the night, former world heavyweight boxing champion David Haye, who certainly knows a thing or two about big KOs, revealed how impressed he was.

He said: “There are highlight-reel knockouts and there are knockouts like that there.

“He put a cluster of punches together that any MMA fighter in the world would be proud of.

“That was a real knockout. That’s going to be a Youtube sensation, with millions of hits.

“That is somebody having just their second fight! He steps in with the jab, right hand takes the head out and whips his shoulder through. Perfect technique.

“It looked like he was out of range with the left hook, but obviously the timing and distance was perfect. “It doesn’t get any better than that.” The reality TV star also confirmed this week that he has asked the match-makers to find him a step-up opponent for this next bout, with his previous two both being debutants.

That’s exactly what Aaron needs and he should provide plenty of entertainment on the night, whether you’re in his corner or not.

Meanwhile, also confirmed for the show are North East stars Colin Fletcher and Ryan Scope.

Fletcher is a former UFC: The Ultimate Fighter finalist and spent a brief time with the UFC. Since, he’s been a regular on both Bamma and Made4TheCage

shows, with his entertaining Aaron Chalmers in action against Alex Thompson in their September bout. Chalmers is on the card for Newcastle in December style and unforgettable cage entrances popular with fans.

Scope, meanwhile, is one of the most naturally gifted martial artists from the region and has been involved in the sport for yours – being one the so-called originals in the region alongside UFC star Ross Pearson.

One of the brightest prospects in the region, Adam Proctor, has also signed to appear on the card.

Proctor, who trains under Alex Enlund at SBG South Shields, is 7-1 so far with his sole defeat coming last October when he stepped up at Cage Warriors – it was an unfortunate second-round defeat, given that he’d come so close to ending it himself in the first.

After rebounding with two impressive wins since, Proctor is ready to step up on another big stage and show early hype was right.

Meanwhile, two former UFC stars are also believed to be appearing.

Valerie Letourneau (8-6) is a one-time UFC women’s strawweight title challenger, but signed with Bellator in April and is hoping to revitalise her career at flyweight.

Michael McDonald is 17-4 and has joined Bellator after a falling out with UFC officials.

BAMMA CEO David Green said: “After a bumper 2017, we look forward to signing off the year with a massive event.

“Some familiar BAMMA faces alongside some exciting new signings will bring a night of top-flight MMA to the always appreciative, noisy Newcastle crowd. If the way the shows have been building already this year are anything to go by, this will be one to enjoy.”
