LITTLE Mix star Jade Thirlwall has earned praise for putting a smile on one disabled fan’s face.

The South Shields-born singer has thrilled Georgia Thompson with a number of heartwarming gestures over the years.

Georgia, 15, who has cerebral palsy, is a huge Little Mix fan and has turned her bedroom into a shrine to the chart-toppers.

There are pictures, posters and merchandise all over her room.

Now as the teenager prepares to see her favourite band in concert for the 14th time, her dad George revealed how Jade turned up at their house to surprise her.

Georgia, a pupil at Bamburgh School, had had complicated surgery on her legs and was recovering at home when the star knocked on their door.

Jade then spent an hour or so chatting to her and gave her a signed photo.

It all happened because the singer used to frequent a pizza shop where George worked at the time – Abra Pizzas, on Mile End Road.

George, 49, of South Shields, said: “Some years ago, just after Little Mix was formed, Jade came into the shop and I told her that my daughter was a huge fan.

“She picked up one of the order pads we had and wrote a note along the lines of ‘ To Georgia, lots of love Jade’.

“I told her my daughter wouldn’t believe me if I gave her the note, so she held it up and posed for a picture. When I showed it to Georgia, she was over the moon.”

On another occasion, Jade was in the shop again and George told her Georgia had just had a major operation. Jade took their address and promised to pop round.

“I told her Georgia had been in hospital and wasn’t feeling very well,” said George. “She took my address but I never thought she would actually come round.

“But one morning, she just turned up. There was a knock on the door and there she was, with her mum.

“I told Georgia ‘there’s someone here to see you.’ When she saw Jade, she started screaming, i I’ve never seen her jump so high.

“Jade stayed for about an hour, talked to Georgia and gave her a signed picture of herself.”

And when the teenager went to watch Little Mix perform at Durham County Cricket Club in July, the family say Jade spotted Georgia in the audience, recognised her and mouthed ‘hello’.

The superfan was at the group’s concert at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle last night.

George added: “She absolutely loves them – she has loved them from the beginning. She knows the words to all their songs.

“When Jade came round to see her and gave her a signed photo, it was one of the best things to happen to her.

“It was a wonderful gesture.”
