Shankhouse stay top as chasers draw

SHANKHOUSE remain leaders of the Premier Division after Newcastle University and Seaton Delaval were held in highscorin­g draws against Killingwor­th Town and Wallington.

Jordan Lashley would prove the match-winner for lowly Newbiggin as they won 2-1 away to the leaders, the visitors leading through Brad Higgins, Andrew Anderson levelling.

Uni, for whom Joe Hamblin notched twice and Olly Walden also netted, were held to a 3-3 draw at Killy Town, Scott Bamborough missing a penalty but seeing goals from Lee Waugh, Sam Walker and Jordan Miller.

At Delaval, Matty Hayton and Michael Baxter scored doubles in a 5-5 draw, Jordan Nellis replying with a brace, Thomas Truscott, Kyle Reardon and Aiden Armstrong also scoring.

Alex Benjamin scored twice for Ponteland as they edged a seven-goal game at home to Percy Main for whom Jonathon Storey scored a hat-trick.

Ashington Colliers won 2-1 at FC United of Newcastle. Dillon Williamson and Chris Glass scored for Colliers while Tommy Bainbridge replied for the hosts.

Whitley Bay A enjoyed a comfortabl­e 8-0 win at North Shields Athletic, goals flowing through James Proctor (3), Regan Patterson (2), Connor Campbell (2) and Sam Callaghan.

First Division leaders Killingwor­th YPC won 3-0 atSeaton Burn, Malcolm Morien with two and one for Joe Besford.

Felling Magpies won 7-0 at Cramlingto­n Town, Matty Johnson and Adam Byron with hattricks. Hexham won 7-1 at Monkseaton, Brad Lowes with three and Robbie Pattinson two.

Hazlerigg defeated visitors Hebburn Reyrolle 5-1 as Richard Coulson hit three, Newcastle Chemfica beat Red Row 4-0 and Forest Hall won 3-0 against Gosforth Bohemians.

The Wallsend derby went in favour of the visitors as Community, with two from Kane Chirnside, won 3-1 at Boys Club.

In the Second Division, Blyth Spartans Reserves defeated visitors Coundon 6-2, Dylan McGlade scoring three and Andy Murray two. Bedlington were held to a 1-1 draw against Whitley Sporting Club.

The Amateur Cup saw Prudhoe YC edged past hosts Blyth Town 3-2, four of the five goals coming in the final half hour, the winner arriving at the death.

In the Durham Trophy, Gateshead Rutherford won 4-1 at Hebburn Town Reserves, Birtley Town progressed on penalties following a 2-2 draw with Hartlepool FC and Gateshead A crashed out 1-0 at Gateshead Leam Rangers.
