SPENNYMOOR TOWN 3 HARROGATE 1

-

Spennymoor Town players celebrate during their 3-1 win over Harrogate Town just after the half-hour mark as their two goalscorers combined.

Taylor released Foley in on goal and he squandered the chance to square the ball to Matthew Dixon, opting to go for glory but Belshaw made a smart save.

That miss was punished when Jack Emmett found the unmarked Andrew Nelson and he made no mistake with a clinical header.

The Moors hit straight back as Rob Ramshaw curled a sublime effort past Belshaw for his first goal of the season to help his side go two up heading into half-time.

The visitors had the first chance of the second half and came within the width of a post of reducing the Moors’ lead.

Former Darlington man Josh Falkingham hit a powerful show from distance and that smashed against the woodwork.

Foley continued to tease and torment Harrogate and almost grabbed his second goal of the day on the hour.

Ramshaw scuffed a shot just inside the visitors area and the loose ball fell to Foley but he could only find keeper Belshaw with his effort.

The Moors were comfortable as the game headed into the closing stages and could have extended the lead when Joe Tait rose to meet a corner and found Foley.

However, the in-form forward couldn’t make sufficient contact to divert the ball into the net.

He went close again with six minutes remaining but sent an effort wide after good work from substitute Graeme Armstrong.

But Foley’s earlier work had already helped laid the foundations of yet another impressive win for the Moors.
