HEATON STANNINGTON 3 CROOK TOWN 3

-

Heaton Stannington score one of their three goals against Crook Town, but the Ebac Northern League clash ended 3-3 deflected off Stan defender Dean Deagle and dribbled past the far post.

With the half coming to a close, the Stan took the initiative and only the woodwork prevented Jones from grabbing his second of the day.

The midfielder curled a corner kick directly against the near post, with Liddicott scrambling across his goal.

Crook could and should have been in front at the break, as Dan Pigg rounded Mullen and looked set to tap into an empty net.

However, a quite brilliant last-ditch tackle from Jordan Ray kept the scores level going into the interval.

The Stan were ahead two minutes into the second half as Andrew Robertson stabbed home his first goal for the club.

The striker almost grabbed a second five minutes later, but Liddicott tipped his rising effort against the bar and away to safety.

Crook got an equaliser on the hour mark, although it had more to do with a poor decision from Stan keeper Mullen than any quality from the visitors.

A looping free-kick was sent into the Stan area and Mullen raced from his line to collect the cross.

But he was beaten in the air by Paul and the striker headed past Mullen and into the net.

Substitute Richie Hoggins put the hosts back in front with 10 minutes left as he rose to meet a corner and powered a header past Liddicott from 10 yards.

But there was one final sting in the tail as Crook snatched a point.

Chris Emms stepped up to curl a sublime free-kick past Mullen and ensured that the two sides shared the points on a chilly day at Grounsell Park.
