Molineux mauling keeps rivals from Wolves’door

-

WOLVES show no sign of letting up at the top of the table after dispatching Bolton 5-1.

Fresh from a 4-1 win over Leeds, Willy Boly, Leo Bonatini, Ivan Cavaleiro (two, one pen) and Diogo Jota all scored for the rampant Molineux men. Will Buckley netted Bolton’s consolation.

In-form Aston Villa won again, seeing off Ipswich 2-0 to keep in the automatic promotion hunt.

Albert Adomah was their matchwinner once more, taking his tally to five in three games with one either side of the break.

Leeds bounced back from their midweek loss at Wolves to win at Barnsley – one of their bogey grounds.

United are regularly beaten at Oakwell but bucked the trend today, Samuel Saiz and Gjanni Alioski scoring first-half goals in a 2-0 win.

Norwich’s winless run extended to seven as Preston, led by former City boss Alex Neil, came back to draw 1-1.

James Maddison put Norwich ahead but Tom Barkhuizen replied.

The pressure remains firmly on Hull boss Leonid Slutsky after they squandered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at home to Bristol City.

Without a win in five, Hull looked to be doing the job as Fraizer Campbell and top-scorer Jarrod Bowen put them in an apparently safe position.

But Aden Flint and Bobby Reid got Bristol City back in it and Josh Brownhill won it with a minute to go.

Oliver Norwood’s penalty saw Fulham beat Millwall 1-0 and Reading drew 0-0 with Sheffield Wednesday.

In the late kick-off, Sheffield United lost ground on leaders Wolves when they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Birmingham.

Leon Clarke scored his ninth goal in four games for the Blades to level the score after Chelsea loanee Jeremie Boga opened his Blues account with a 25-yard strike in the 38th minute. Diogo Jota scores Wolves’ fifth goal
