Accrington Stanley clinch League Two title with win over Lincoln

- SCOTTISH DIVISION TWO

ACCRINGTON were crowned League Two champions after beating Lincoln 1-0 at the Crown Ground.

Stanley only needed a point to win the title, but they finished their historic season in style with their 29th victory of the season.

Jordan Clark’s goal in the 35th minute was the difference between the two sides.

Wycombe secured automatic promotion with a dramatic win at already-relegated Chesterfield.

A Michael Harriman own goal gave Chesterfield the lead in the 39th minute, but Wycombe restored parity when Nathan Tyson scored on the stroke of half-time.

With 14 minutes remaining, Dominic Gape scored the winner to seal promotion to League One with a game to spare. Exeter’s hopes of automatic promotion ended when they were beaten 3-1 at Stevenage, with Alex Revell scoring a hat-trick for Borough. Pierce Sweeney’s penalty was all Exeter could muster and they must now prepare for the play-offs.

Mansfield’s fightback at Yeovil means the battle for the final play-off place will go into the last game.

Lee Angol cancelled out Bevis Mugabi’s 17th-minute opener for Yeovil before Francois Zoko’s penalty on the hour mark gave the home side a 2-1 lead.

But Kane Hemmings’ penalty and Angol’s second goal of the game ensured the Stags kept their play-off hopes alive. Omar Sowunmi was sent off in the dying seconds for Yeovil.
