FRANTIC loved ones of missing David Bennett yesterday begged for help to find him.

Police reissued an appeal in a bid to trace the 30-yearold who left his home in Shiney Row on August 18.

Officers leading the search have been told by a member of the public he was spotted on Weymouth Drive, Shiney Row, shortly after 1am the following day.

Police are increasingly con- cerned for him as the search heads into its fifth week.

David is 6ft, of slim build with short brown hair and was possibly wearing jeans, a blue Barbour jacket and trainers.

Sgt Rob Bagshaw, said: “This is really out of character for David, and as a result, his family and police are growing increasingly worried.

“David has been missing for a number of weeks now, and our efforts are ongoing to locate him and return him safely to his family.

“However, I would ask any member of the public who has David Bennett not yet come forward and has information regarding David’s disappearance, or who thinks they have seen him in the last few weeks, to get in touch.”

David vanished after slipping out his mum’s house as she was putting rubbish in her bin.

Mum Carol said he lost his phone on a night out the day before he disappeared.

She said: “It is just as though he’s vanished. There’s no trace, no sightings, no leads,. I just feel ill. I’ll do anything to bring him back home.”

In a direct plea to David, she added: “No matter what it is, please just come home, we love you. Anything can be sorted out.”

David lives with his dad Charlie in Shiney Row, near Houghton-le-Spring, but would regularly visit his mum who lives nearby.

And Carol, 56, added: “He was just his normal self. He had been out the night before and had a great time. I was just putting something in the bin and when I came back in he was gone.”
