during the Sky Bet Championship match at Carrow Road, Norwich switched to the opposite end of the pitch where Assombalonga had an ambitious penalty appeal rejected following a challenge from Zimmermann.

Then the goal came. Boro were like a rabbit caught in the headlights as Norwich mounted a slick passing move that ended with Emi Buenda, under pressure from Friend, slipping the ball to the unmarked Teemu Pukki who toe-poked a low shot wide of Randolph and into the net.

Pulis replaced Fry with Braithwaite and switching to a 4-1-4-1 formation.

And, in the 66th minute, his change almost paid off when Downing dinked a pass through to Braithwaite who hit a powerful shot at goal from a tight angle but Krul saved at his near post.

Two minutes later, Pulis made his final change, sending on Jordan Hugill for Clayton and asking the team to play a 4-4-2 with Hugill and Assombalonga up front.

There then came a bizarre moment when Andy Davies sent off Timm Klose for a second yellow card offence for pulling back Assombalonga.

The referee then consulted his assistant who said the Boro striker had been offside and Davies had to rescind the booking to the delight and derision of the home supporters. Once play resumed, Boro got on with trying to equalise and did manage to press Norwich back in their own half for brief periods.

In the first of six minutes of stoppage time Norwich hit their opponents on the break with Mario Vrancic setting up his fellow sub Tom Trybull, whose shot was well saved by Randolph.
