SETS UP MENTAL HEALTH CHARITY struggles, help others
hardest fight yet, but it is also his greatest victory. Speaking about the production, Les said: “Brian’s motivational story highlights coping mechanisms and antidrug speeches.
“It’s inspiring, especially a man like Brian to speak up and say it’s OK to struggle.”
‘Drugs, easy money and the hard truth’ highlights the high price Paddy Moloney paid for being involved in the criminal underworld.
Les, who lives in Newcastle, said: “Paddy explained in detail, how he ended up working as an integral part of the global drugs trade.
“Paddy was responsible for the monthly importation of 400kg of drugs into the United Kingdom, and how he finally learned what the price of easy money really is.
“Having spent almost a decade in jail, Paddy now knows that all he needs was with him all along – his loving family.”
His inspiring videos have reached over 60,000 people and helped to grow the charity’s Facebook community to almost 1,000 people. This in turn has generated a waiting list of people who are needing further support.
Changing the Game UK has also set up a fundraising page to provide professional support to people on NHS waiting lists for counselling and therapy, develop more interviews around mental health illnesses and host peer support events with guest speakers and signposting for additional support services.
A target of £7,500 has been set in order to deliver the help needed. Donations can be made at https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/changingthegameuk#start.
The charity also hopes to apply for funding in the future.
The engineering consultant, who may be facing redundancy, added: “We have submitted an application to open a charity bank account but unfortunately due to the delays caused by coronavirus it is not yet open. And until it opens, the charity can’t apply for funding.”
Les manages the charity in his spare time and through being furloughed during the coronavirus pandemic he has been able to put more time into building the charity.
