Man sent threatening texts to his ex-partner

-

A Cocaine-fuelled ex bombarded his former partner with abusive messages in which he chillingly warned

“I’m coming to kill you”.

Drunk Kristopher Blackett also told the woman “I’m going to stab you to bits” during a series of threatening texts and voicemails sent from a mutual friend’s phone.

The victim was left so terrified by the messages that she was left scared to leave her home, Newcastle Crown Court was told.

Benson, of Benson Road, Byker, was arrested and later pleaded guilty to an offence of sending malicious communications.

The court was told that it was one evening in December last year the 29-year-old and his ex-girlfriend bumped into each other at a pal’s house and the pair had then argued.

Michael Bunch, prosecuting, said: “Following the argument, she [the victim] left the address. She then began receiving abusive text messages and voicemails from the defendant, using a mobile phone of a mutual friend.”

Mr Bunch said the texts contained threats of “you’re dead” and “I’m going to stab you to bits, watch”.

Meanwhile, in the voicemails, Blackett warned the woman ‘I’m coming to kill you”.

Sentencing him to a 30-month community order, with 100 hours of unpaid work, Judge Penny Moreland told Blackett: “You sent her a series of texts and voicemails, which contained very unpleasant threats and abuse.

“It appears you were drunk and had taken cocaine at the time and that, in my view, is an aggravating feature.”

The judge also said Blackett’s “attitude” towards his former partner needed to be dealt with by professional intervention.
