The Sunday Sun newspaper is published by ncjMedia, a subsidiary DOTING mum Jackie Dixon knows how precious a hug from a child can be on Mother’s Day after her son tragically died from a brain tumour.

And at this poignant time of year, she is sending out a heartfelt message to parents asking them to tell their sons and daughters how much they love them.

Jackie lost Scott on his 28th birthday after she stared into his face and held his hand before he closed his eyes for the last time.

After Jackie opened his birthday cards he never got the chance to read, she has now brought out the Mother’s Day cards Scott sent her in previous years.

“Enjoy every second you have with them,” said Jackie, as she wiped away her tears. “Appreciate every minute. You have to let them know how much you love them.

“Listen to what they have to say and let them know you are the one they can depend on, no matter what happens.

“On Mother’s Day give them a kiss and cuddle, there’s no feeling in the world like getting a cuddle from your child, it’s pure love, so do it.”

Jackie will never forget when Scott was told he had a malignant brain tumour on the same day she finished her treatment for breast cancer.
