Teen star Charlie emerges as darling of race circuit

-

IT’S been a while since the North had some new talent to celebrate, but it looks like it could be emerging in the form of teenager Charlie Farrer.

Not since Chrissy Rouse won the Aprilia Superteen series in 2012 has the region had what we could genuinely call a potential world champ, but it definitely seems a possibility with Farrer.

The Easington youngster started making waves last year in the Team Green Junior Cup, and sensibly chose to stay in the series this year to hone his race craft.

But he is also contesting some of Thundersport GB’s Superteen series – renowned as the place where champi- ons are born – in a bid to get as much track time as possible.

Yesterday, despite getting a 10-second penalty for a jump start, he somehow managed to make the time back and cross the line second on his Kawasaki.

He went on to finish third in the second race yesterday afternoon, and now leads the series ahead of today’s two races at Donington Park. Remember the name Charlie Farrer…you heard it here first.
