Children recovering from crash

-

TWO youngsters left fighting for life after a crash near a bridge over the Tyne are now said to be making a recovery.

An 11-year-old and a 13-year-old were left in a critical condition when the car they were travelling in flipped and crashed into a barrier at the side of the A184 approach to the Redheugh Bridge in Gateshead.

The three other passengers – aged 15, 19 and 32 – were also hurt in the smash but their injuries were not life threatening.

The children were taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary following the smash on April 11.

On Friday, a spokesperson for Northumbria Police said the 11 year old is in a “stable condition” in hospital.

The 13-year-old is also stable but it is unknown whether they have been discharged from the RVI.
