Warm feeling as results are looking good

- BY PAUL ARMSTRONG

DESPITE a couple of overnight frosts, the slightly warmer climes have encouraged most of our fish species to feed.

This is more than evident at The Angel of the North complex where some cracking results have been recorded.

Pleasure anglers are taking nets with some real quality fish in these catches, match anglers are also enjoying some first-class action.

The Easter Saturday match on Lookout Lake saw a great winning weight by on-form John Dryen who fished hard pellet in the margin to take 164lb 14ozs.

Dave Pearson followed with 98lb 6oz ahead of Rob Emery with 65lb 10oz.

An overnight frost resulted in lower weights in Sunday’s open where Dave Pearson took the honours with 70lb 1oz, ahead of Brian Hall with 46lb 13oz and Chris Pine with 44lb 7oz. Dave continued his excellent form on Easter Mondmay with a 81lb 11oz winning net, followed by Martin Craig with 78lb 6oz and John Foster with 61lb.

The Big Waters AC trip to the Oaks saw very wet weather dampen the spirits of most contestants.

Nevertheless plenty of fish were caught and Dave Hambleton led the way with 57lb 10oz.

Today, Big Waters AC fish a Senior League match on Blackbird Lake at Aldin Grange, Sunderland FAC have an Away Day event in Stonebridge, and Opens take place at The Angel, Woodlands and The Oaks. The South East Northumberland branch of the Pike Anglers Club meet at the Northumbrian Piper in Fawdon on Tuesday night, and on Wednesday evening BWAC hold their monthly meeting at the Empire Club on Salters Road in Gosforth, new or prospective members will be made welcome.
