Wilks looks to improve on Lydden disappointment

-

DURHAM’S Guy Wilks was last night lying 12th in the World RX of Great Britain as the series arrived at Lydden Hill for its only UK round.

The only permanent Brit in this year’s series, Wilks is aiming to put the disappointment of the last two rounds behind him in his Loco-liveried KNE-backed VW RX Polo.

The former British Rally champ has been getting some last-minute practice in over the last 10 days at the Karting North East track, near Sunderland, which he now owns.

This weekend he is hoping he can go one better than he did on his Lydden debut two years ago, when he was denied a podium after a puncture.

“We’ve made more improvements to the car and I’ve been spending as much time driving around the KNE track to get me even sharper. It helps when you own a race track and I’ve been making the most of it since we got back from Belgium,” he said.

“The weather is set to be glorious this weekend so if anyone’s not making the long trip to Lydden, they are more than welcome to come along to Karting North East where we’ll be showing all the action.”
